The True TAC-48-LD open-air merchandiser has a bottom-mounted refrigeration system that is accessible for cleaning and servicing. To minimize frost buildup, the defrost system is time initiated and time terminated, and maintains a set temperature between 35 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Self-lubricated evaporator fan motors create an air curtain that runs over products to keep them cold, and PVC-coated wire shelves that are adjustable in increments of ¹⁄₂ inch.

For durability, its front and sides are black vinyl and its back is aluminum. The lower front panel on the cabinet is made of sturdy plexiglass so products in the bottom are visible, and the black powder-coated steel frame rail resists corrosion and has leg levelers for stabilization. Made of stainless steel, the interior is quick to clean with a perforated back wall for improved airflow. To keep cold air in the cabinet and provide structure, the True TAC-48-LD open-air merchandiser has foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation.
